Shade of blue on stained glass window in france?

Question by russiarocks: Shade of blue on stained glass window in france?
My french teacher was talking about this window that had such a rare blue color that it was vaulted during a war to keep it from breaking. Where can I find a picture of this? It’s in a church and it’s stained glass.

Chartres Cathedral is the one renowned for it’s vivid blue windows, the most famous being the Virgin and Child, known as the Blue Virgin Window. During World War 2, most of the stained glass was removed from the cathedral and stored in the surrounding countryside to protect it from German bombers. The cathedral was used as a social club during the German occupation of France. At the close of the war, the windows were taken out of hiding and reinstalled.

I don’t know of any church or cathedral in France where windows were vaulted to prevent breakage, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
