The Parish Church was rebuilt 1858 in Perpendicular Style having embattled parapets with pointed pinnacles and walls of Pennant stone. It retains the medieval tower built in 1315 with dressed Pennant blocks that houses a peal of 6 bells with one inscribed 1627. There is a parish chest from 1600.

This window is unusual in that it reflects an image of the church itself.

Known as La cattedrale d’Italia ovest, or The Italian Cathedral of the West, Charles Fantoni and John Porporato’s neo-Gothic design is richly ornamented in Romanesque style and features twin spires that soar 191 feet high. The parish school is unusually situated atop the church itself around its clerestory level and is accessible from stairways under each of its twin towers.

After their civil ceremony in 1954, Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio returned for photographs on the steps Saints Peter and Paul Church. Peter & Paul DVD

This epic network television mini-series brings to life the precarious existence of early Christianity. The new movement is beset by violent opposition from without and constant turmoil from within. Two key leaders emerge–Peter and Paul–who struggle to keep the faith alive. This dramatic presentation follows the pair, together and separately, through three epochal decades. Included are the stoning of Stephen, the road to Damascus, their encounter in Jerusalem, their conflicts over how the word of Christ should be spread. Paul’s travels to Asia Minor and Greece, Peter and Paul’s clashes over Jewish law, and Peter’s decision to follow in Paul’s courageous footsteps. The drama concludes in Rome in approximately A.D. 64 with the beheading of Paul and the crucifixion of Peter under Emperor Nero.

Peter King: Labor and draft board uncertainly rules the day at the NFL’s annual combine
INDIANAPOLIS — There will be plenty of time in the next few weeks to discuss labor. (Sigh.) You’ll be overwhelmed with it this week. For now, in the wake of a long, uncertain weekend at the scouting combine, I’m going mostly football. It might be the last time I can do this for a long time.
