Christian & Shannon had an unfortunate event where a tree fell on their house. They cleaned up all the debris and put it out on the front lawn for the trash people to pick-up. Here Vlad surveys the damage.

Why are so many Christians into a work based salvation when the bible says salvation is by grace?

Question by gatorw: Why are so many Christians into a work based salvation when the bible says salvation is by grace?
I continually hear Christians talk about all the works they and others must do to be saved when the bible says salvation is by grace. Why is this? Is the biblical message of salvation being muddied by these Christians and preachers who boast of their works? Do many people even know that the bible says that salvation is by grace and not of works?

Best answer:

Answer by kl
It is distressing — I agree. But that’s the natural state of the heart of man — to assume that God works on the same rewards based that the world works on (sort of). Even among those of us who know and profess salvation by grace through faith, I think it’s something we must fight in our hearts daily — the desire to try to be justified by our own ‘righteousness’.

Keep in mind, too, that this is the offense of the gospel — so of course our natural man is going to hate it.
